Silvi Materials Honored with NJIT’s Outstanding Industry Partner Award

Silvi Materials was recognized on April 10, 2025, with the Outstanding Industry Partner Award at the 27th Annual Salute to Engineering Excellence hosted by the Newark College of Engineering and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The honor celebrates Silvi Materials’ nearly two decades of commitment to NJIT’s Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program and its long-standing support of engineering education in New Jersey.

The award was presented to Laurence J. Silvi II, Co-President of Silvi Materials, in recognition of the company’s leadership in funding, mentoring, hiring, and supporting CIM students throughout their academic and early professional journeys.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to support the CIM program for almost 20 years,” said Laurence J. Silvi II. “Seeing NJIT students embrace the concrete industry—and thrive in it—makes our involvement truly worthwhile.”

Since helping launch the program in 2006, Silvi Materials has played a pivotal role in providing hands-on learning experiences through plant visits, guest lectures, and field-based training. In collaboration with NJIT faculty and the Patrons Group, the company has also championed research projects, networking events, and career placement for CIM students.
